Traces of the Aigneville estate can be found as early as the 16th century.
At the beginning of the 17th century, the present castle was only a single-storey pavilion in the middle of a vast agricultural estate.
In 1746, the reconstruction of the house was launched. The new residence built in 1746 is the central body of the current castle. At that time; the ground floor only consisted of a hallway, a dining room, a pantry and a living room. There were four bedrooms on the first floor.
During the French Revolution, the castle remained inhabited for the exploitation of the agricultural domain. Towards the end of the 18th century, two wings were build and a few more rooms were then created: a library, a pool hall, a large kitchen, four new bedrooms and three maids' rooms.
At the very beginning of the 21st century, the estate was made up of the castle and several agricultural buildings. The castle and several other buildings underwent a major renovation. Sadly, a crumbling huge barn had to be destroyed.
Owned by the same aristocratic family for centuries, the castle of Aigneville was sold to Jean-Charles & Mickaël at the end of 2020. To finance the estate renovation and mainteance, its new owners have now opened a small bed and breakfast. The idea is to make our guests experience "la vie de château"!
